The history of sled dogs date back 4000 years, or even more

Sled dogs were once the main method of transportation in the Arctic regions, long before snowmobiles and airplanes. Many researchers believe that life in these regions would not have even been possible without sled dogs. Nowadays sled dogs are mainly used in dog races and in tourism to provide naturefriendly safaris. The longest races can mean 1600 km (about 1070 miles) in 9 days!! The fastness of the best racing dogs can increase to even 50 km/h ( about 34 miles / hour). During ous safaris we don´t even aim to this kind of speed, instead we are enjoying the beautiful views of Finnish Lapland in relaxing and frienldy company of the dog team.
